CBFF welcomes Grammy nominated singer songwriter John Parr to the festival judging panel for CBFF2025, overseeing the brand new Original Score and Music Video categories. The introduction of these categories is to recognise and celebrate those who compose the music specifically for film, helping to create the atmosphere for the audience, establishing emotions and changing the tone of the story throughout a film.  The Music Video category welcomes entries of music video with the strongest or most original concept; with remarkable execution and interpretation of a song.

‍During his career John has worked with countless icons ofthe music industry, touring with world renowned musicians such as Tina Turner, The Beach Boys and Heart, and selling over 10 million albums globally. As asongwriter he has written for various artists including Tom Jones, Meatloaf, The Monkees and The Who’s Roger Daltrey.

John has since diversified into film-making and has writtenand produced a variety of short films, including ‘Road to Damascus’, produced with his business partner Chris Munro, and coming in the top ten at the Academy Awards for Best Live Action Short Film.

Most recently John has set up a new film division and its first production, a drama documentary titled ‘Unconquered’, told the story ofthe lives of two former soldiers injured in the line of duty. It went on to win 120 awards around the world, and was also nominated at the Carmarthen Bay Film Festival 2023.

“It’s a real honour for me to beinvited to join the judging panel at the Carmarthen Bay Film festival in Wales”said John.  “I am greatly looking forward to hearing the film score andmusic video submissions in this vibrant BAFTA qualifying festival”.
